About Us

My name is Liz

Welcome to my Artistic Journey!

A Minnesota native, I’ve been painting since 2009 and love the glow and luminous quality particular to watercolor. My background is unique bringing together my love of nature, extensive travel, eternal curiosity, family and the passion of science and technology.

I was introduced to the medium through calligraphy and increasingly painted more and more. As I was receiving awards for my paintings a framer told me I needed to paint “full time”.

After that I never looked back!
My work has a wide range and I paint whatever interests me from portraits, florals and landscapes to urban/political and abstracts. I have embraced and enjoy the challenges of watercolor. I’ve even explored acrylics and photo transfers onto canvases. However, watercolor is my passion. After a trip to China I’ve purposely tried to incorporate a feeling of calm and peacefulness, a kind of “Zen” into several of my paintings to produce a meditative and tranquil effect on the viewer.

This past May 2019 I was honored to receive a First-Place award in the Watercolor category at the Beverly Hills Art Show. Also, in May and June of 2017 I was one of 40 artists chosen by the Los Angeles County Department of Aging to have a painting hung in DTLA City Hall. I have had paintings juried into several galleries including the San Fernando Valley Art and Cultural Center, Betsy Lueke Creative Art Center in Burbank, Ca., Las Laguna Gallery in Laguna Beach, Ca., ArtShareLA, Galeria Gitana and the Dorje Chang Buddha Cultural and Art Museum.

As a practicing family physician for over thirty years I enjoy sharing my knowledge of watercolor painting with patients, colleagues and staff. We know that “art heals”.

I feel so fortunate living where there are phenomenal mentors and inspiration lurking around every corner.
